some mindless frivolity after..

yesterday's gloomy start to the day. Top three cartoon characters if you please.I'm going with-
1 Sylvester. I loved that cat and his raspy lithp.
2- Pépe le pew, le locksmith of love, no? And his jaunty spring.
3-Wile E Coyote.- an inspiration to us all. Never give up and even when you have run off the cliff, keep running!
Oh and I"m putting Snagglepuss in too, because he wore a collar and cuffs even though he was naked and I loved 'Exit stage left' as a child and said it as often as possible, even when I clearly wasn't going anywhere, left or otherwise.

  1. Good Morning, Ms Cat. I remember hearing Wile E Coyote speak very wittily in one episode, but then he became mute. A great shame.

  9. I firmly believe that everyone has a cartoon equivalent in the Warner Brothers pantheon of characters. I've always thought of myself as having quite a bit of Yosemite Sam in me. And I once had a boyfriend who WAS the human equivalent of Foghorn Leghorn.

  12. My number 1 is Taz, every step of the way. My cousin when he was young used to be just like him...

I can't put my finger on a definitive 2 & 3 but other faves include Captain Caveman; Wile E. Coyote; Speedy Gonzales; Hong Kong Phooey and Batfink.

I love Pepe Le Pew, even though in every single episode, the object of his affection was always a cat that accidentally got a strip of white paint down its back.

And another thing - how come the only way to distinguish female animal cartoon characters is by long eyelashes?

  16. I don't know, but I absolutely loved Pépe, and the romantic way he would kiss the cat all the way up her arm, even after she ran away... le sigh.

  17. FMC, I loved Pepe too... and I love Stewie! But HOW did no one mention Ralph Wiggins from the Simpsons?! "It tastes like burning!" is one of the best lines ever... everything that comes out of that kid's mouth is classic...

  18. Oh Lindy, 'Burn, them burn them all,' All though my favourite is 'Prinskinner Skpipple.'

  19. I'm also a big fan of Ralph's line when he and Millhouse got stuffed in the locker, and Ralph says, "We're a totem pole! Oi! Oi! Oi!" Hilarious...
