Yep, just read about that. It seems it's a pretty rare thing to get barbed by a sting-ray. He was hellish unlucky. That's a real shame - he was a great bloke; a real character and so enthusiastic about wildlife you couldn't help but like him, despite that accent.
Yeah, poor Steve&his family. I agree with your comments. He actually drove me nuts with his "crikey" - a few years back I had to promote "Crocodile Hunter" and I wanted to tear my hair and scream, I was so agitated I wanted to hit somebody. Hard. But. Today I was very sad to read about his death. He had great ideals, and being a bit "showbiz" about it I guess did the job - he got attention. May he rest in peace.
