My plan to hike to the hell fire club today was drowned out in a torrent of rain. So instead I took myself and a sorely disappointed LGK off to the gym, where we did a circut session that culminated in a 2k run, a run TLGK said made her feel sick. Teenagers are moany wee shites are they not?
Now I must plan where to watch the rugby and what ale to partake of while I do so. Yesterday I had a pint of Smithwicks with a Guinness head, pretty smooth I must say.
Many (not all, just many) young women are so body conscious or obsessed that exercise makes them feel worse. I know that sounds strange but I was one of those. Your skill and ease in the gym provides a great role model for healthy bodies, FMC. Don't give up.
ReplyDeleteI don't take too much notice of her complaining to be completely honest. I think teenagers feel it is obligatory to complain otherwise we adults get suspicious. She talks the ear off me whenever I invite her to go somwehere so I've got really good at nodding in all the right places. If she was quiet I'd be worried.

They've scuttled us before at the quarter final, so let's just say,there's a whole lot of false bravado going on down here right now - but just quietly I reckon people are very nervous. ReplyDeleteIf you're not used it, running (or any rush of aerobic excercise) will bring on a dose of the nauseas. So I'd not worry 'bout TLGK. And as you say grumpy complaining is de rigeur at that age.
As for le rugby...

the truth was they were better than us, they got every ball, their catches were good, the turned us over again and again...le sigh. I think I"m going to follow the Argies for the rest of the tournament.
Not that I know much about the whole thing..however based on what very little i know - but i reckon the argies are the black horse of the tournament. they are the ones to watch and the ones to be very afraid of.

ReplyDeleteHe didn't make one effective kick into space, so he was giving the posession away all the time with no appreciable territory gain. But then, aside from the first ten minutes of that match the Irish forwards haven't matched the speed, organisation or appetite of any team they've come up against. We were one of the most mediocre teams in the whole competition. Where are the players we're going to take to the next world cup? This lot should hang up their boots.
