This is 16 year old Missy Quinn on her wedding day. It fair brings a tear to the eye does it not? Thank gawd for the Daily Wail. I must send this IMMEDIATELY to my friend who is to be wed later in the year, in case she needs any ideas for her dress.
I read the story and to be honest, I though there was a certain sweetness about it all. Naturally it 'borders' on the ridiculous, but the dad saved all his money and gave the daughter everything she wanted. So much so that a national newspaper picked up on the story (mostly to have a bit of a giggle) and a 16 year old girl made national news on her wedding day. I dunno, I thought there was a certain sweetness to the story.
18 is the legal age below which you have to apply in advance to the courts if you are resident in Ireland, or if you intend to marry outside Ireland and want it legally recognised here.
What terrifies me most about this picture is not that this poor young woman will one day regret getting married in that getup, but that she will not.
ReplyDeleteHeh @ grims.
ReplyDeleteLooking at this, I regret not going the whole bonkers snowball route for my own wedding.
ReplyDeleteShe might be one of those people that other people call bubbley. Or frothy. Or just stacked.
girl.......do do do do.....you'll be a woman soon........girl do do do do....etc
ReplyDeletewell said grims :)
ReplyDeleteStacked indeed, her mater is more so. If you feel up to a visit to the wail website. Frankly I would avoid it.
ReplyDeleteGrims, it cost....are you ready? Maybe not in your condition....oh what the heck, you're strong...sixteen thousand POUNDS!!
ReplyDeleteSweet mother of God. Somebody pull up my fainting couch. What is it made of, gilded butterfly wings and baby seal fur?
ReplyDeleteFake tits all 'round eh? I actually thought the mother was Jordan. Poor misunderstood Travellers.
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna go out on a limb and say those puppies are real.
ReplyDeleteGrims, it reminds me of a Dolly Parton quote, 'y'know, it's takes a lot of money to make me look this cheap.'
Sigh Dolly, I heart her.
Pass the flask.
ReplyDeleteNow now, no tiara jealously.
ReplyDeleteOh ffs...
ReplyDelete...and what's a traveller? Is that British for "trailor trash"?
Missy's titties maybe, but mammy's puppies, not so much.
ReplyDeleteGreen, as I live and breath I believe you are correct!
ReplyDeleteM, sort of but more indigenous.

ReplyDeleteSweet jeebus, she still looks like a baby!
ReplyDeleteFar too young to get married.
Can't support it Docky, I'm with Medbh, 16 is far too young to get married no matter who shelled out for it.
ReplyDeleteThat is so truly awful it's outstanding. I mean, you couldn't write that story as being fiction cause you'd be scoffed at.
ReplyDeleteI had a video of an even more outlandish outfit here a while back but I'm damned if I can locate it LK. That was a traveller wedding too.
ReplyDeleteGiven her age they'll have needed an ok from the courts to have that marriage legally recognised in Ireland.
ReplyDeleteReally? Why on earth couldn't they just wait another year. 16 is so ridiculously young to be married.
