Blow up Dublin airport.
Ooops, sorry about today's post title, it was typed completely out of context, I just meant to type...blow up Dublin airport...ooops, I don't know why I keep doing that. Let me try that one again...'Blow up Dublin airport!' Bugger it, I don't know what's going on, every time I try to say blow up Dublin airport, I just keep saying blow up dublin airport.
Alrighty then. Lemmie just back peddle on this a little...
Omar Bakri Mohammed, founder in the UK of the now disbanded al-Muhajiroun movement, has allegedly been broadcasting via the internet since his exile to the Lebanon and, in a chatroom conversation, appeared to advocate an attack on Dublin airport.
A group called Vigil Network, established last year to monitor and transcribe the online jihadist movement, said it discovered Bakri Mohammed talking to supporters and recorded the discussions.
Asked by one of its undercover operatives whether Dublin Airport should be a terrorist target because US troops transit there on the way to Iraq, Bakri allegedly said in response: 'Hit the target and hit it very hard, that issue should be understood. Your situation there is quite difficult therefore the answer lies in your question.'
He is reported to have said of Jews: "You have no choice but to hate them. How do you fight the Jews? You kill the Jews."
The cleric was using a pseudonym, but according to the BBC Newsnight programme broadcast last night, he was identified by a voice recognition expert.Bakri, who was banned from the UK last August, apparently praised the July 7 bombers and, in a chatroom conversation, appeared to advocate an attack on Dublin airport.
In one recent broadcast, he said the 7/7 suicide bombers were 'in paradise'.
He also reportedly said: 'How can you condemn those great men - it's not something so bad, something so good.
'Something so good to be involved in.'
Naturally when confronted with this the good cleric, spiritual leader and all round good egg said his words were 'taken out of context', what he said was 'hIt the target, hit it very hard and that the issue must be understood, the situation there is quite difficult...but don't come over here and bother us by saying what you are planning to do.' ( he said this on the radio this morning)
Sooooo, see how he did that? Nice. Do it if you want to, but don't be bothering us about it, we're studying and I"m getting my beard trimmed.
I try very hard to stay out of the affairs of Muslims, I don't like religious intolerance or hysteria of any kind. But as a frequent flyer, and a lot of us are these days, this man threatens my safety. As a Cleric, Baki can perhaps influnce some weak minded individual to commit a murderous act and maim or kill countless innocent people n my own country, and it is very worrying. People like Bakri have the ear of a great number of people. It matters not a jot if he now claims it was taken out of context. The fact is what he originally said is an unleashing of sorts. 'Hit the target, hit it hard.'
In a religion where young men take the word of clerics to mean the word of their god, this kind of rhetoric is the worst kind, the whipping up of emotion in an alreadly faught time. If Clerics like Bakri unleash hatred with ever word how long do you suppose it will take for those words to become sanctioned action?
'Hit the target, hit it hard.'
I wonder what context he was aiming for?

Yikes...
I can't really see why anyone would like to harm Ireland.
Very interesting entry by the way. It is weird what is going on around the world at the moment, sadly Tony Blair and George W aren't making it any easier for the rest of us.
Really interesting, as I said and hopefully it will all be fine, anyway, not even that would deter me from visiting Dublin once again.
"'Hit the target, hit it hard.'
I wonder what context he was aiming for?"
"Hit the target, hit it hard, bitch, give it to me up my ass, oh yeah, baby, fuck me like a sheep, roughly and from behind, I'm a dirty, dirty man, and I want your big unwashed uncircumcized infidel penis shoved up my brown hole!"
Well, that's what I'd like to think the anti-propaganda campaign would be, but no one seems to be taking my marketing advice. I haven't figured out why yet. I'll let you know.
"A group called Vigil Network, established last year to monitor and transcribe the online jihadist movement, said it discovered Bakri Mohammed talking to supporters and recorded the discussions.

So, to be clear... the man who is identified as Bakri Mohammed (using voice id software?)did not think up the idea of targetting Dublin Airport.
The person, who is supposedly he, was responding to a query put to him by an "undercover operative" who is employed by or a volunteer at "Vigil Network", which has what status?
The result is that we now have reason to be anxious about being in Dublin Airport because an agent provocateur put a question to a man who may or may not be proven to be Bakri Mohammed, a known extremist Muslim cleric.
Paranoia and propaganda are inextricably linked. The agent provocateur should be put in jail.
Peyotitlan, welcome and rockin' avatar.
FS, you may be on to something.
Conan, He was on the radio earlier saying it was indeed his voice, but that what he had said was taken out of context.
My concern is that regardless if was or not it can still be taken as sanction by those who which to see it as such.
But.... was he actually responding to a question put to him by an "undercover operative" who introduced Dublin Airport as a potential target into the conversation, as your post suggests?
Apparently so. It was his alleged addition to the line that wobbles us into 'context'. He claims he said the line and then followed it up with a sort of, if you're going to do it do it, but don't be botheriing us with it, we're just trying to study here, liine, thus taken out of context.
I'm not sure I believe every word out of the mouth of Vigil Network either, they clearly set out to catch him spouting off, but Bakri confirming he did say this was what worried the crap out of me because you just know someone else is going to hear this and decide it IS okay to hit Dublin airport.
shoot him in the head. The context of this is of course buy him a banana split but shoot that fucker in the head. with sprinkles and fresh cream!
mmmmbanana split...mmmm, I've jsut had spicy lentil soup, the context of this is I want rhubarb crumble and custard.
Mmmm, stumble and bustard... us infidels will blow ourselves up from the inside, no need for jihadist intervention.
Alrighty Conan, what's your take on it?
I suspect Dublin airport was floated, by mistake, for Shannon. It is syntactically unclear from your post whether it was a Jihadist or a Vigil Networker who first mentioned Dublin Airport. That is a critical factor.
I suspect if someone in a chat room with Bakri asked him if the infidel should be bombed at MacDonalds on the Naas road, or American Chambers (an anonymous looking building, nothing to do with the US) on O'Connell St in Dublin he would say pretty much the same thing.
What do we expect him to say? He is who he is. The battle between cultures and religions goes back millennia. If I could go back in time I'd have no hesitation hitting the genocidal poet Edmund Spenser very, very hard indeed. Read his 'Vue of the Present State of Ireland'. What he did was advocate the total eradication of Gaelic culture, and suggested a programme for doing it.
It's clear what Bakri, his ilk, and their followers are 'for'. Why they are 'for' that is a little more complicated, but much of the motivation has been created by US foreign policy in the Middle East since the 1960s.
Right, so if he is what he is, and if he is 'for' what he is 'for' then why the back peddle?
Make no mistake, I have no doubt what extreme hardliners mean when they cry jihad or where we the 'infidel' come in it. My entire post was actually about the back peddle, the 'context' quote. I'm a very firm believer in mean what you say and say what you mean. The American foreign policy was not in question when I posted this morning, ( the who armed whom and for what reason is too complicated an issue for a daily blog such as this) just what Mohammed Bakri, cleric and spiritual leader, really meant when he said 'hit them hit them hard.' The fact that he got two airports mixed up while suggesting his course of action worries me.
(I will have a browse for Edmund Spencer)
It is way too complicated for a Blog chat... the fact that he appears to back-pedal should come as no surprise either. Rhetoric, much of it ghastly and bloodcurdling, is the bread and butter of the Islamic world.
It's a bit Old Testament in its tone, actually. And so the talk of blood letting and holy war is very much part of the culture, if not the dogma of Islam.
However, it's taken literally by many muslims. And they're more than happy to die for paradise any day of the week and send as many of us infidels to our eternal reward at the same time.
So Bakri may have been saying, in effect, 'Yes, I said it, but I didn't mean it literally... that's for others to interpret as they see fit.'
Ah, the age old washing of the hands. Nice to see Muslims do it too. Okily Dokily I'm off for Yorkshire pudding and roast beef...huzzah!
It is extremely interesting for me to read the article. Thank you for it. I like such themes and everything connected to this matter. I definitely want to read a bit more on that blog soon.
What an utter GOBSHITE the original poster is, seriously... do you not watch the news lately? 88 killed by some feckin murdering eegit at a volleyball game, more will die in Iraq and other places today. Would you not be better off jumping off a high cliff and do us all a favour or else write something more positive, embarrassing the shagging country, you bleedin' eegit.
Go on.. feck off outa that and get a job you lazy fecking twit.
If I ruled the world I'd make chocolate toffee cookies part of our staple diet and pizzas!

Deal directly with a company that knows how important a Combination Oven is to your business. It also features graduated markings for accurate measuring purposes. It really is generally generally known as OTO for small.
Incredible points. Outstanding arguments. Keep up the good work.
