Crossfit rocks!

I love crossfit, (crossfit.com)I love it with the fervour I normally reserve for rum. Everyday I log on to their website and read what torture is lined up for that day and I marvel at the devious and dastardedly mind behind it. After Tuesday's agonising and arse numbing 400m lunge walk I still cannot sit into my chair without yelping or muttering in fear. Climbing the stairs is almost tear inducing, coming back down them is worse. I thought I was going to die getting out of bed yesterday.
So what does the coach dish up for us this very morning?
A 5k run. For time.
Oh Coach, we are not worthy, we truly are not.
I"m going to the gym now, I may be some time, if I don't come back give Shebah my shoes.

  1. And are you allowed to be running 5k hard, young lady?

Though if you can lunge for 400m I don't suppose it'll be that much of an issue.

  2. You are ahead of the news FMC. Just heard on the radio there is to be a Panorama programme on dog-fighting in Ireland.
    Hope your agony eases.

  4. I went, I ran, I said ouch a lot. Bit slower than last time Gimmie, but then I am watching for twinges (and my hamstrings are still screaming from the other day, 400m lunges is too much the last 50 I did were all over the place and nearly killed me, lets just say form went out the window along with grace)
Pat! I heard, it will be interesting to watch all right. I hope they catch all those bastards on camera when they're mouthing out of them. There's just no excuse.
Medbh, it's a cry for help I"m sure.

O my God please tell me you don't do lunges and squats in the gym?

  6. Sometimes, but not today.

  7. I should point out I'm very bad at squats, my heels keep coming off the floor, but I'm getting much better-I think.

Heh Heh you are mad! Maybe I’m just to shy / self-conscious / stupid but I would be absolutely mortified. I venture to the gym most mornings or evenings it’s always pretty full, I’d love to do proper weight training but just couldn’t. I salute you!

  9. Ah, I"m of the opinion I paid for my membership I"ll use whatever I please-although I am frequently the only woman in the weights section.
Don't be worried about what anyone thinks, everyone is there for the same reason.

i can just about bring myself to put one of those stupid swim hats on, the pool is in a shit position everyone can see you. I told my pal about you and when she picked herself up of the floor she agreed we should try weights this evening.

I sign up for the gym, do a direct debit for one year and stop going after about two months. So well done you for keeping it up! I find I need company for my fit efforts so go fast walking for about 5 miles most days with a couple of mates. When we have to stop talking to breathe we know the heart rate is up to the right level!

  14. I suppose it's just a habit with me now. I don't really give going to the gym that much thought. Well, I'll ponder what the WOD might be and which part of my body needs attention, but I mean I don't give going much thought. It's just part of my routine.
Sitting here all day makes me a bit stiff too, so I need the break. Some days I might be at my desk up to 12 hours, so I really need the physical shake up.

  15. My prospects for this year's Dublin City Marathon went out the window this week. Spent the last week in bed getting daily injections into my lower back for back pain. Next year, my knees will be 39 years old. I wasn't even going to be that competitive. I just wanted to finish it and started training for it in June.

How much does it cost to fix a chimpanzees two knees?

    One penny.

Or should I say....two 'ape knees.

    Ape knees?

    Ha'pennies?

    Sorry.

  16. Oh Docky2, bad luck. I know of what you speak. I'm waiting on the blasted x-ray results too, so I've been doing really light training and no extended distances. I"m hoping when I get the all clear I'll have enough fitness and time to ramp it up, train hard and complete the marathon, but the more time that goes by the dodgier that looks and it's making me mad as hell as I've been training for bloody months.
39 is not past it, if you cannot do it this year, next year is still there.
