Motivation for Fatcats.

Stunned to find myself suffering a hangover free Sunday, I decided to put this most rare of occurances to good use.
Running 11k, hilly route, lots of long slow rising hills and one or two sharp inclines. Good work for the legs. Must have shower now. Music, Ministry of Sound Classics. I did indeed hold that sucker down.

Miss cat, well done with the training, you seem to have mastered a good balance with your regime. I will be bowing out of the marathon this year for fear I may collapse and die. I did 20k round the Phoenix Park yesterday and was literally on my knees when I finished. Grant it I didn’t do much last week but I just don’t think I have the intestinal fortitude. I commend you for your bravery, may the force be with you and the rest of your training.

Well done Nonny! 20k is a terrific run, I plan to do just that as my long run later this week.
Don't be too hasty either, I too get a dose of the mental squits everytime I think about how long the marathon is, but then I think about something else immediately. A naked Christian Bale perhaps. It's the only way I can stop myself from trembling.

Lordy I don’t know that was only 12.5 miles not even half the marathon. I just can’t envision being able to run double that in 6 weeks. I think my downfall is I run to fast and cannot sustain it. What is the longest you have ran? And in what kinda timeframe do you anticipate completing the marathon?

The longest I ran before my ankle nonsense was 20k.
I'm feeling quite good on my runs these days, like I'm not really pushing my limits, but I run slowly, where as before I kept trying to go faster and I'm just not a fast runner. I can cover a lot of ground if I go at my steady Neddy pace. But as soon as I speed up I balls up my run.
As to the marathon, my only goal is to complete it. I don't care a stuff about time. Not this year, maybe next year I'll be more worried about it. This year it will be get across the finish line without dying, vomiting, crying or all of the above.

I seem to have the opposite problem start off flying and then I hit the wall. I’m only interested in finishing it myself and I know I'll be kicking myself if I don’t do it, I’m just soooo afraid though, you know they close the course after six hours and the send a truck around with big flashing neon lights saying Loserrrssss to collect the hangers on (that maybe be a slight exaggeration). I’m gonna go the gym tonight and run my ass off, I’ll review the situation after that.

If I'm still out there after six hours I will gladly hop on the truck and direct them to take me to the nearest bar.

O stop the utter humiliation of it and your name would be published in the paper the next day. Can you imagine a couple of your mates/family and boyfriend waiting patiently for you to cross the finish line then they see you arrive on a truck imagine how awkward that would be.
