It was warm, it was sunny, the feet are worn off me and I am the wreck of the Hespa. Terrific fun. It's quite funny, people in Barcelona must dress according to their calenders and not according to the actual weather. ' Oh look Montse' they must say, 'It's november, time to break out the furs and ski jackets, I know it's almost 20 degrees out there and the sun is splitting the rocks but double that scarf up and make sure your tights are 100 denier.'
It's one of Murphy's laws, innit. Why do it in an hour if you can do it in two. I know what you mean about continental dress sense - I was once in Nice in February, where all the local ladies were wearing furs and all the visitors were in bikinis on the beach! If it goes below 23c they get out the fur.
I knew I felt bad for people who don't really experience the thrill of seasons for some reason...though winter here lasts around 5 months, we do swing all the way back around to "sweet Jesus, if you even think about touching me I'll drown you in my own sweat" kind of weather in the summer. Not that I've ever threatened to drown my husband in my own sweat or anything. I'm still seething with jealousy that you European types get to jet off for a weekend in Barcelona... but still somehow glad you had a lovely time.
Well, I take it Barca was absolutely fab so tell us all about the M50... what was the weather like, did Ethyl behave herself with the taxi man, what was getting him worked up... etc etc?
I'd quite like actual seasons too, not light rain, heavier rain, slanty rain and so on. Conan, she was high as a kite and drunk as a lord. Or I was, one or the other. There was some involvement with karaoke, some rum based shenanigans, much meeting of old chumlies, some rum, some shoe shopping, a ridiculous but sublime watching of boxing, some feeling sorry for ourselves, cured by some more rum. All in all a cracking few days.
I did darling, I did a lovely 12k loop from Eixemple, down to through Tetuan, past the zoo, down onto the the waterfront and back up through Raval. It was glorious. I was hungover before I went out and not by the time I got back, you just can't beat running for clearing the head a little. Plus it wasn't cold. Not even a little bit.
I took a bus to New York recently. 3 hours on the highway from Boston to NYC, one whole hour going through upper Manhattan to the bus station. Passed right by my brother's street, but they don't let you off until you're in the station - had to get out and take a cab! A WHOLE HOUR in NYC traffic...Boston driving gets a bad wrap...
Nothing I can publish. Especially not karaoke bar photos. Our word for the weekend was 'weeeeeeeeeeeeee' I hate that about buses here too, they hardly ever let you off, even if you're sitting in traffic and the stop is two inches away. Frustrating.
I'm writing from Chicago airport. Flight canceled 'cos of snow. Am feeling very sorry for self. Just ate my own body weight in fried food. I love Barcelona. Never had a bad time there.
I hate that M50, with all of my heart, I avoid at all costs, there is no way to get off it that's why. I have lived in Dublin all of my life, I have driven in Dublin for three years, I can count the amount of times I have been on the M50 on one hand, I would rather drive 100 miles out of the way as long as I was not sitting there not moving, I caught this trait from my father, hence me knowing all the shortcuts around town, although in saying that it did take me 1 hour and 40 minutes to get from Croke Park to Ballsbridge last Thursday, I celebrated this, the winner of longest time: shortest journey, by having a crisp sandwich for my dinner, it made me feel better. Boycott the M50, and the East Link as well, they are all a shower of shites!
I thought it was only me who would drive totally out of my way to avoid sitting in traffic not moving (though I got stuck this morning because of idiots blocking junctions (no yellow boxes here) and had to sit there, waiting, waiting, waiting).
airport to Rathmines/Rathgar, in a cab, should have gone thtough town. Bus lanes and freeflow and all that crap. by the way did u stay up for the fight and were you screaming for Rickayyy
Stipes! We crossed. I didn't stay up, but I avoided all sport news the following morning and made my way quick sharp to the smokiest bar in the world where the owner had it on pay per view. He also made sure anyone who knew the result was sworn to secrecy. Where upon I ordered a pint of stella settled back and called the referee many many names. It was every bit as exciting. I knew after three rounds Floyd was going to win. Poor Ricky wasn't really landing anything and Floyd -when he did strike- was super bloody accurate and fast. It all went to hell after Ricky was docked that point though. But by that stage I was on pint two and accepting of the fact that I wasn't going to ever see my ten Euros again.
Welcome back FMC. I'm not at all jealous of your winter break - but I do feel just a tiny bit guilty at being selfish enough to want you back blogging for us.

Ηі there, i read уour blog oсcasiоnally and i oωn a similar one and i was јust wondering if you get a lot of spam rеmarks? If so hοw ԁo you рrotect аgainst it, аny plugin οr anything you can suggest? I gеt so much latelу it's driving me insane so any assistance is very much appreciated.
I'm a bouncy, opinionated, messy haired marathon running (!) bibliophile. I wear high heels and have delightful ankles. I'm a devoted drinker. I want a French Bulldog puppy whom I shall call Batman and dress in capes on occasion.
I would also like a pug, whom I shall name Mister Woo. He can remain capeless, but I will make sure he wears a diamante collar at all times.
Both dogs will submit to repeated snorgling and high pitched squeals that only a dolphin would normally tolerate.
I hate Reiki/psychics/mystics/frauds with all my liver. Also, I'm firmly against Jazz and poetry/poems/pomes/ peoms or any of that stuff. I believe in the healing power of ginger.

Dublin traffic is the devil's smegma as you would say, FMC.
How was the food? Did you go running?

And what really gets right up my nose is when your wait for your luggage is longer than your flight.
My mother just came back from Timbuktu and her luggage took three weeks to get back. Luckily, she didn't wait for it by the luggage carousel.
Lovely to hear you've had a nice time.

It sounds divine, FMC.
It was darling, it really was.
LK, Docky2, traveling can be the Devil's smegma, it truly can, I completely empathize with poor experiences.

So what we're saying is we are against it, right? (plus your father sounds quite correct)

Thank you. I hate when people are blocking up the place too. Just look and think for gawds's sake. Let folk pull out.
