Motivation for fatcats and possibly for fatcat chumlies.
Another glorious Saturday is here! I say glorious, but this being Ireland the weather could change any second, so I"m just going to run with the glory part. A choppy sort of week for me, due in no small part to having too much work to do and not enough hours in the day to do it all. Of course that's really no excuse, and seeing it here on a Saturday really brings home how easy it is NOT to do much during the week. Naturally this will probably be the week y'all have done sterling work, and I'll feel even worse from my crummy efforts.
Monday, recovery from Great run
Tuesday-work, no really.
Wednesday- Guilt over my laziness kicked in.
20k cycle,
40 Pull ups- grav 20kilo counter balance, (nearly nearly)
15k 10x3 rows, ye-ouch.
squat press, using 8 kilo dumbells, 10 reps in sets of 3, really tiring I find, but a good over all workout. It's from cross fit and it knocks the socks off a body.
Thursday- CG is away so I am walking his dog for him, we wandered a couple of miles down the Dodder where once again he tried to kill himself by drowning.
Friday- reluctant to risk another drowning I decided to test a theory I have about CG's dog. I mapped out a 15 k route and collected him.
To facilitate this I needed to let him run off a bit of steam first. So I took him to Sundrive to let him gallop about before I stuck him on the lead for the run. While doing a lap of Sundrive Park I got wanked at, by a chap who ran the length of the pitches just so he could get himself good and ready before I reached him. Yack.
Unperturbed by naked willies and grinning wankers, I clipped the dog and off we set. !5 Kilometres later and still he showed no real signs of flagging, although his tongue hung out to the side and he was thirsty. This is a dog who really likes to run. He has an easy gait which is perfect for covering long distance and a barrel-shaped chest for massive lung capacity. I was bloody knackered. He was happy. I'll take him to the Phoenix Park in a few weeks and try a twenty K on him, but I imagine that won't phase him in the slightest either.
My plan today is to hit the gym for a weights session. The Spaniard has suggested I meet her for a cocktail. That too sounds like a good plan. I'll definitely do one of them.

should've set the dog on the wanker, hope you rang the polis when you got home
oh, congrats on breaking the hour last week. Whats your next target?
I didn't bother Stipes, by the time I got home he would have been looong gone. Wankers, they're every where. I was just surprised anyone would hang around a park all morning looking for women to wank at, I mean who the hell thinks like that?
Thanks, myself an CG are doing a couple of charity races in may, but really the next big thing for me is to run the Flora mini in under the hour- maybe even under the 55 min. That's the (hopeful) goal I've set myself. And I'll be adding a distance run to my weekly training sessions.
That makes me feel a bit bad about going to the gym for my piddling 4k, but I'm sticking rigidly to the Hal Higdon post-marathon training until I'm sure my legs are ok...
Will try some weights and the old rower too though, the marathon may be over but my carb-loading continues unabated lol...
Aye, it's hard to switch down after a few weeks of loading. Do you find you're starving? I was starving for about two weeks after my marathon. Seriously famished.
The one and only time I was visually assaulted by a wanker was in front of the church on lower Rathmines road. Nothing like a guy in a trench coat going at himself and calling, "Hey, hey girls, hey girls" when you're deep in post-pub conversation on the walk home.
I only ran once this week, but did intervals, and it sucked. Until later in the day, when my legs felt looser than they have in weeks.
Biked three days, yoga two days, weights one day.
Will try out the 6-mile run tomorrow. Snow is forecasted. I am not thrilled about this, but last weekend's heat wave reminded me that I've gotten used to running in cold, and running in heat does entirely different things to my body, like turn my face well nigh purple from exertion. Now that's attractive.
Yeeee-aaaah, kind of a dodgy week for me, exercise wise.
Last weekend was good, and I did my normal rest on Monday, but couldn't manage to get out of bed on time Tuesday, so didn't have time. Then I went to the ball game and drank a lot, so I slept a little too late on Wednesday too. Too tired and cranky to do anything after work but eat and pity myself.
Managed a 30 minute elliptical workout on Thursday, with some ab stuff (balance ball, ab wheel, yoga stretches) but nothing major.
Yesterday - nowt. Again, up too late Thursday night to manage to get out of bed in time. And then I went out for drinks after work.
BUT - it's a fresh Saturday. I WILL get on the elliptical for an hour or so, then do some lunges and squats for the thighs of doom. Then we have another ballgame, but I'm going to behave myself and NOT drink double-fisted so I can do another long workout tomorrow.
I'm really very tired, though.
Rain hail or snow - how I long to be back in Ireland just to smell the fresh country air.
Totally starving, think I must have stretched my stomach in the run up to Paris! Ah well, sure it'll be gone soon enough...
Grims, as I ran past he kept saying 'sorry, excuse me..' Like I was going to stop and turn around and go ' Oh hello there, having a pleasant wank are you?'
Anyway, good luck with the run tomorrow. Interval runs are painful but they do bloody work.
Jake, there's thunder and all sorts going on now. I believe my gamma would call a day like today 'changable'
Yep, Andraste I've been taking it handy drink wise as it really makes me not be arsed too. although I did have a few glasses of wine last night as I worked my way steadily through season 3 of the wire. However I'm just back from the gym so I don't feel bloody guilty. Heavy weights today, I can barely lift my arms above my head this second.
LOu, YAY! I thought that was just me, I ate like a horse for the first two weeks after DCM, I put on five pounds and all of it was delicious.
What a scumbag.
Too bad the dog didn't bite him.
CG's dog is a gentleman. I pretended I didn't even see him Medbh, people like him like the attention.
so far i've managed to work out every day this week, although there's still today and tomorrow to get through ;)
i always feel like i'm not doing enough, but the program i'm working through for beginner triathletes advises starting very slowly, otherwise most people generally just up and quit. suppose they know what they're talking about, but i've no patience!
monday: swam, 50 yd warm up, 50 yd cool down, with a 100 YD swim. walked the dogs for 20 minutes.
tuesday: 2.5 miles on the bike, weight lifting, and a core work out.
wednesday: another swim such as monday, but really concentrated on my form and technique. came home and took the dogs out for 20 minutes.
thursday: made the mistake of going to the gym in the afternoon, and after a quick 7 min row to warm up, i left... there were lines for every piece of equipment. came home and walked the dogs.
friday: another swim... felt less like a flounderer and more like a swimmer. also did 10 minutes on the bike, weight lifting, and a core workout.
today just planning on walking the dogs. didn't do any yoga this week, but hoping that next week i can make it to classes. they've gone and changed the instructors around so now it's anybody's guess as to whether or not the classes are any good.
That's a nice week Daisy Mae. And you're right to build up slowly and consistently. That training will be what stands to you in the long run.
Hell yeah, Daisy Mae, it sounds like a good week to me. Keep on goin' mama!
A better week for me too. I ran 3 miles 2 days (girls cycling 'longside); 5 miles 2 days; and 6 miles 1 day. Some eliptical work besides and a turn about on the weight machines twice this week. Feel worthy of my plonk this evening and I feel like I'm 23, not 33 tonight! Wooohooo!
Well done Sam! How are the girls doing without the stablizers?
FMC: you haven't got a lazy bone in your body. Just been watching the London Marathon. Any hope of seeing you there one day?
Maybe Pat, I'll get this year's Dublin one under my belt first and then I'll see about expanding the field a bit. Although it would be such a terrific experience to do the London one.
Still watching #3?
Thoughts?
Still watching, hotting up. Thoughts are- me- "god damn Omar's got big nipples' him-'I'll bet steel bats hurt like fuck'
Me- 'I've a bad feeing about Stringer's future',
Him- 'Bubbles is really hurting, something's got to give.'
'Mcnuddy?!' HAR.
And many other random witterings. Yep, we love it.
If the wankers been at that spot once, he might be there again. Train the dog to snap at the sight of a naked outdoor penis.
My week.
Monday 90 mins bike wattage training. These just get harder.
Tuesday - rest.
Wednesday 90 mins bike wattage training.
Thursday - 3500 meter swim, outside of 1000 meter warm up and 500 cool down all 100 meter intervals. 8 fast, 6 faster, 6 very fast.
Friday - first one hour run. I got the polar 625x heart moniter / workout computer, which has a foot pod, so I was able to watch my MPH etc. Held a solid 7.8 minute mile. Then I went for dinner with a friend, and we went for "just the one drink". Fell out of the bar at 2am, and between 3 of us we had polished of a bottle of bushmills.
Saturday 35 mile ride, which should have been at least 55, but we decided at the outset that with the 85 degree weather and the hangover, (same guys I got locked with were riding), a shorter ride would be wise.
Sunday 40 minute run, followed by 6 15sec hill sprints.
Hee.
McNuddy.
Bubbles really shines in 4 and 5.
Hey FMC. Ran my first (and possibly only) ever sub 3 hour marathon. Chip time of two hours fifty nine minutes and fifty eight seconds. Can't put it into word so I just put it into words.....
It hurt like hell...felt good after though. I had aimed for 3:03 but when I hit 10k in 40 minutes I couldn't let go of the idea of a sub 3 and just tried to hang on.
Haven't even blogged about it yet, wanted to come over to this little club first and say Hi! Thanks for your support!
YOu did it !!! Oh my god! that's so bloody fast. Well done darling congratulations!
