Why that's just spiffy, Biffy.
From UTV Headlines.
"One of Ireland's top politicians has come under fire after admitting smoking marijuana as a student.
Critics complained Finance Minister Brian Cowen appeared to make light of his drug experience joking that, unlike Bill Clinton, he did inhale.
Mr Cowen made the gaffe in an interview with rock magazine Hot Press just days before the general election on May 24
The politician hotly tipped as Taoiseach Bertie Ahern`s eventual successor revealed he smoked the drug while studying law at University College Dublin (UCD).
"Anyone who went to the UCD bar in the `70s that didn`t get a whiff of marijuana would be telling you a lie," Mr Cowen said.
"There were a couple of occasions when it was passed around and unlike President Clinton, I did inhale."
His remarks were today criticised by a mental health expert who said Mr Cowen should have been more prudent in his comments given the dangers associated with use of the drug.
"For the vulnerable and the weak and those who are easily led, the danger is that people looking at a successful man like Mr Cowen might assume cannabis is an innocent pastime," said Des Kavanagh, General Secretary of the Psychiatric Nurses Association.
"It is a gateway to other more serious drugs. He should have been more prudent."
Former US President Bill Clinton famously admitted smoking marijuana, but denied he inhaled it."
Oh yawn, government dude had youthful high jinks same as every other person. But instead of lying about it he admitted it, no wonder people are confused.

People still call it a gateway drug and all that "reefer madness" crap? What a joke.
Though I must say I do still raise my eyebrows here in surprise whenever I encounter people smoking it in the park and street here. It's decriminalized in Canada and all over the place. They should just make it legal and tax it like cigarettes.
What!?!? You mean a politician told the truth?? What's the matter with him?????
Oh they're all over the radio earlier, bleating on and on about it, right up to moment some priest from a drugs centre came on and said 'well actually the 3 biggest drug problemsin this country seem to be alcohol, cigarettes and Valium, in that order' the airwaves have now grown quiet.
Yes, it's the 'politician admits stuff' that staggered me too.
California recently approved the use of marijuana for medical purposes. An old lady in the town next to ours was dying of cancer. Her doctor advised her family to give her medical marijuana. Early one morning the Feds swept into her house, searched the house and arrested this old woman.
When it come to marijuana laws, the Feds trump the state under this Republican administration in a move that is not just disgusting it's not even bloody Republican! Republicans are the party of small central government and states' rights devolving most of the power of governing and decisions about how to govern to each individual state; big government is anathema to an old-style Republican; people should be trusted to govern themselves locally because less is spent on administration that way; no big social programmes; ideally common defence would be the only concern of a loose federation of states is what they think.
George Bush has grown government under his watch more than any Democrat ever did. With the Patriot Act he has powers to find out what goes on in our bedrooms with his moralistic paternalism. All this because of the growing power of the looney Christian right under his watch.
Hard-line Christians caused the humiliation of that poor old dying woman, taking away one of the few things that can offer her relief in the time she's got left. Hard line Christians are more dangerous and insidious and calculating than your average drug-dealer I would say - they're just on another drug called SRZ: self-righteous zealotry. Damn their fucking eyes, I say. I loathe them.
Hi there,

Hi there,
Offer: Your face kicked in, spamming cunt.
"Damn their fucking eyes, I say. I loathe them." So you feel very strongly about this Miss Sam.
Oh my god! Someone smoked dope in the 70s! Shock, shock.
The best I heard on this today was that the Biffo's now called the Spliffo.
I doubt it'll affect his rangking - as the spammer calls it.
Spliffo, oh joy!
I smell a suggestion here by the erstwhile Mr D Kavanagh, that said politician would have done better had he kept his gob shut and said nothing.
Yeah, so nothing has really changed, if you want to do stuff that is morally unacceptable in later life, just stay quiet about it. As usual the truth has no place in Irish and possibly Catholic life. God, and I thought that the days of hypocrisy were waning, obviously not.
