BUPA Fun Run.
Well, the weekend is here and tomorrow is my very first road race, the BUPA fun run in the Phoenix Park. 10k on a pretty steady neddy course with only two short hills. My race pack didn't turn up so I have to collect it at the offical tent tomorrow, but that a minor thing.
I did some interval training over the last two weeks (cheers Finn) and I have improved my speed but still not enough to do the 10k in under an hour, but I'm not going to worry about it. There's another run in June and I'm going to do that one too. Maybe I'll have sped up by then, maybe not.
I have a question though-don't I always- does anyone know the best thing to eat on the day of the race? Is wheetabix and a banana enough? The race is not until 1pm. Other than that, good luck everyone taking part!

The man in my radio told me that the packs can be collected in the Park this afternoon too. Between 2 and 4 I think. It might make tomorrow a bit less hassled.
Good luck! Enjoy it! I bet ya beat the hour mark.
Really PS? I might nip over and see if I can get one so.
Good luck tomorrow, I hope you fly.
I couldn't tell you about eating on the day of the race, cos I've never entered a race before even though I say that I will every year. Kudos.
Good luck tomorrow!
Thank you very much.
Don't you have taxis?
Curry'n'chips is yer only man,
good luck.x
Porridge and bananas plus some sugar bar before you start race - best of luck!
Cheers everyone, Ronnie, welcome home sir, welcome home.
Since you're already doing all that running, could you exercise for me, too? I'll pray for you, just to make it a fair trade.
Some slow release carbs (porridge yer only man) and plenty of fluids (its gonna be hot) should do the trick. Run forest run!!
My dad was the coach for Stornoway Running Club for many years, studied and got his Am. Ath. Ass. coach credentials.
The night before the Stornoway half marathon they would hire the drill hall and cook up a big pasta feast for the runners especially the ones from away. The excess carbohydrate is stored as glycogen in your liver and gives you plenty of steady release energy during the run the next day.
He had a big bowl of porridge every morning anyway, toast and an egg.
Best luck, hun. And good on you for taking up a challenge like this. I'll be thinking about you out there hoofing it tomorrow!
PS: I know you've got your zippy new running shoes but take some plasters along too - just in case!
Cheers Nonnie Mouse, but I'll be doing the wheetabix and banana root. And you're right, just checked the weather, they say it could be a bit roasting. Yikes!
Fat Sparrow, a novena or two gets you at least a kilometre, if you want to up the ante to an our father I'll do bench presses to the tune of three reps on Monday.
Yah Sam, we done crossed. I had chilli con carne tonight, that will have to do.
Muchio Kissios, I'm off to bed now. And thanks all, I appreciate the support.
Best of everything for the race. I can only sit here in out-of-breath amazement. Post a photo of a trophy or a sweat trickle.

It's a deal.
How did it go?
G'luck, FMC. I admire you intensely!
Bollocks anyway.I was away camping for the weekend and didn't see this until waaaaaay too late.
I sure you were only magnificent today.
Oh..Brown rice and egg whites and to drink a 50/50 mix of water and orange juice with a spoon of honey and a dash of salt.
For next time like.
Thank you all, I put up a post!
