Heroin at Dublin Airport.

Holy crap this was a big haul. It makes you wonder just how much heroin is coming into the country? You know, as stupid as it sounds, I almost forgot heroin there for a long time, such is the amount of coke swashing about the place. No wonder the criminals are getting so upset over the sniffer dogs.
From breaking news.

"A record 2.4 million euro heroin seizure has been made by customs officials at Dublin airport.

12 kilos of the drug was discovered concealed in two wood burning ranges, which had arrived in Dublin Port from Rotterdam.

Cocaine with a street value of 175,000 euro was also seized.

Customs officers discovered the drugs with the help of a sniffer dog.

The seizure is the second major find of heroin by customs this year.

In June, 2.1 million euro worth of the drug was discovered in a van coming through Rosslare from France."

This stirs vague memories of a "Not the Nine O'Clock News" sketch where the line went something like -

"Police have seized a ton of cannabis worth about £3million - which means they're paying about 3 times more than the rest of us..."

It was nearly 30 years ago, mind.

But seriously, there's apparently a ransom out on the heads of much of the sniffer dogs here because they're doing such a good job.
Can you imagine, a small island like ours and the amount of drugs they DO wonder a gal can never find an empty cubicle in a pub on the weekend.

I fear for the dogs as well, FMC. Taking a hit out on a pooch sounds like a joke but you know some lunatic drug lord will do it. I hope you don't get a crack epidemic in Ireland. It was ugly in the states in the 80s and 90s. There are quite a few in Toronto as well.

Even the people on the street know there's a contact out on the dog.

There's turn for the books.
