Smoking ban in Private Homes and Cars?

Are my velly ears deceiving me? I caught the tail end of this as I was going out to the clothesline. Apparantly the Ninnies and Nannies in Europe want to make it illegal to smoke in private homes and private cars. Or at least I think that's what I heard, I can't find any whiff of it in the meedja. But If it's true then it is totally outrageous. I don't smoke but as far as I know smoking is not illegal and therefore not the business of the powers that be if a person smokes in his or her own home or car.
Not even slightly their business.
Did anyone else hear this?

Well then, maybe it's time something was done about that.

Why should my kind of smoking be the only illegal one?

I mean if the bloody government can collect tax from it then they can't ban folk from smoking privately.
And if I was queen I wouldn't give folk a hard time about smoking grass either. Especially if they grew it themselves-very easy to do. But I would have them horse whipped for chewing gum. Then their wounds salted.

I've lived in towns in the U.S. where they proposed that kind of thing, more like for renters who were pissed by neighbors smoking. It never passed though.

I'm afraid you weren't having a day-mare, I heard the same thing, can't remember where - but I read it somewhere last Thursday or Friday. If these EU boys keep at it I'm moving to the Isle of Man - those lads know how to treat the rulebook!

On another note FMC - I thoroughly enjoyed a few bottles of London Pride as I watched Drico and the boy's struggle into double figures against the Georgians, good find! I too love a good ale - you should also check out Old Speckled Hen (if only for the great name!) - get it in Redmonds, The Porterhouse and few other places around!

I heard something similar about a month ago up here, FMC. It was more to do with people like plumbers, electricians etc not wanting to work in a smokey environment, so the gov 'asked' people to not smoke 20 mins before someone called over to work in their home.
I'm guessing it was a similar thing with company cars & vans etc.

havent heard much more about it since tho.

Good lord Mac, they're talking about it on Moncrieff! I can't believe any EU crat would even consider making this a law. How the hell would they even inforce it?
Bollocks to all that, your house is your home, surely it's up to you if you want to smoke in it or not?

And oh aye ale. I had a Fullers Organic Honey Dew refreshing golden ale on Satdee, aye, it were magik
I will try out the Speckled Hen too, perhaps this very week. Cheers.

In Sydney a couple were banned from smoking in their rental home (apartment unit) whether be inside or out in the balcony. The other tenants complained and took them to court over it or something. The decision was against the smokers. Oh well. Being a non-smoker and enjoying no-smoking in pubs, indoors public places and ESPECIALLY restaurants, I couldn't care less about the rights of smokers. No offence, but it stinks and it is just disgusting to inhale smoke from the cigarette.
Until they invent cigarettes which, once you inhale the smoke goes in but nothing comes out with the exhale, I am all for banning the practice anywhere and everywhere.
*Braces self for verbal smoker assault.*

As a non smoker I too enjoy the smoke free air in public places, but this seems to be about private homes and vehicles, which is totally outrageous. And if you let that one slide what will they attempt next?

I think I was harsh saying I don't care about the rights of smokers.
In situations where there is no chance of poisoning others with a cloud of cigarette smoke, they should be able to smoke their lungs out.
The only case I'd be for banning smoking in private homes is when it's a rental home. It would be difficult to get rid of the smell once the smokers move out.
But seriously and realistically, who'd smoke inside their homes? Or am I just dreaming?

Sheet, I think most smokers smoke inside their homes. Don't they?

Give them time.It will be proposed soon by some cretin. For the record you can't smoke in a company vehicle ie rep cars, delivery vans etc.Apparently I can't smoke in my own van because it is a company vehicle.I'm the only one who drives it and the insurance says I'm not allowed to carry passengers!Who or what else is in that van with me?I demand to know! And for all you smartarses out there I also do all the mechanical work on it myself!

Puffing away at the cigarette is always a pleasurable experience for all smoking addicts and the feeling of well-being provided by nicotine makes the users of cigarettes and other tobacco containing substances consistently addicted to the habit of smoking. But as the ill-effects of smoking show off slowly and gradually and a smoker becomes a victim to atherosclerosis, Buerger's Disease and a whole range of other smoking induced ailments, he fins no way out other than opting for the antismoking medicine Chantix. Yeah i also heard that, there is a fine of $45 if you are caught smoking in your vehicle and if you will throw a burning cigarette out of the window you will have to pay $10,000 for that.

Please let us live our lives like we want to, don't try to control us by imposing such bans, why tobacco is sold legally when we can't smoke it with freedom, doesn't makes any sense.

Blogger Tatiana Rodriguez said...

Smoking is not illegal so why are they forcing us to follow these rules, first they should ban the tobacco companies who are responsible for smoking rise than do something like this to public.
