Shorter speak.

Ah politics.

"I have acted in a way that violates my obligations to my family," he said. "I apologise first and most importantly to my family. I apologise to the public and I promise better. I do not believe that politics in the long run is about individuals, it is about ideas and about the public good."

Governor Eliot Spitzer, having been caught up in a 'prostitution ring.'

However I believe I can help shorten this down.

'Fuck, I've been found out.'

Great headline from the Economist on this: "Spitzer swallows":

Spitzer shags a prossie and gets international headlines. Bertie commits fraud and rapes and entire country and gets 2 paragraphs in the Indo...

Ha Sliabh.

Sheepie, I know, but maybe Spitzer needs to improve his belligerent hard put upon role, like Bertie seems to have mastered.

I thought 'Johns' always said "My wife doesn't understand me".

I laughed out loud, and am still laughing out loud. This guy has built his entire reputation and career on exposing corruption, and he thinks he can get away with $3000 prostitutes?
I just have to wonder if he got the idea when he busted up a prostitution ring earlier in his career and thought, "Now if they'd done it like this, no one would've found out."
Everyone finds out sooner or later, Spitz.
What an idiot.

How high was his wife in order to stand next to him? How could he even fucking ask her to do that?

It's always the cocks that crow the loudest that have something to hide ( or something to that effect) This reminds me of Ted Haggard and his delightful shenanigans.

Medbh, I have no idea what she was doing standing there at the PR show either. Or why he or anyone else would expect her to be there.

Are we to be grateful he hasn't brought Jesus into it yet? or has he? I haven't read the whole thing, so for all I know, he's already slapping a bible around and saying he's found god.

What an asshole.

Glad you're back, Cat. Oh, how we missed you. Oh, and the motivational Saturday post, too!

Thanks honey. I'm not sure he has called Jesus in yet, but after spending 5k on this 'service' (5K!) he probably ought to start wheeling out the big guns soon.
5 grand a pop! I"m still wondering about that one.

He took her across state lines too though which makes it a federal crime and punishable by jail time.

If he hadn't made his name by fighting organised crime and prostitution rings the hypocrisy wouldn't be quite so rank and the scandal might just have blown over - a matter for my wife and I, etc. I think he liked the name, "The Emperor's Club" - made him feel like a big-shot.

The Republicans are all over this like a rash like there was no such person as Senator Larry Craig.

What a twit.

Federal? Won't that mean he's heading for the high jump?

Great link John, although the good doctor Farley might be over looking and over simplifying things if he thinks they just 'love life' too much.

Very true, especially after the last example of political sexual shenanigans was child molestation!
