Monday Moaning.
Right, this will be brief. Great Run- ran personal best-despite massive painful hail shower, which was so hard the hail was bouncing off my visor and into CG's face.
I'm not going to give you my exact time but I managed to shave double digits off last year's time. 10 K IS doable within the hour, who knew?(shut up fast runners, I know you knew)
This has filled me with wild hope that I can do the same to this year's marathon. The adidas races are next up, will aim to get faster over next few months.
The reason for the brevity is as follows, CG, the paramour, CG's paramour and me went out for a 'few' cocktails last night to celebrate our run, ( CG was like a deer, he took off like a bullet at the 800metres before finish and romped home a full minute before me. I envy his turn of speed, but I am ridiculously proud of him).
Naturally a 'few' cocktails led to more cocktails and all I know is I came home at 2 this morning and I appear to have made a hames of taking off my makeup.
I hope everybody else had a good weekend. I ESPECIALLY want to congratulate Finn for being fast, gutsy and a balls to the wall kind of gal. WEll done to her. She's an absolute inspiration.

Brilliant - well done FMC!
I managed the Belfast 10k under the hour as well, so I'm pretty chuffed for my 1st race.
The 2 unfortunate training buddies who I've dragged out countless times in the wind and rain also did brilliantly at just over the hour for their 1st race too.
Btw, thanks aquaasho for the luck - think it worked!
Congratulations Sheepie!
Are you planning on a marathon this year?
Well done you. Didn't know cocktails were good for removing foundation. Foundation garments yes, but also works for make-up. Practical.
I did a lot of driving over the weekend. Does that count?
Nothing worse than a woman who becomes so pissed she cant take off her make up and as a result leaves her face on the pillow.
FMC then threw on the trackies that smelt the best and went jogging, without repairing the make up.
She (the cats mother) is now lounging in the pink fluffy trackies with "juicy" written across the arse, eating coco pops direct from the box and make up still undone.
In the meantime "paramour" is slaving away in McDonalds serving big fries and fat burgers to keep this woman in mobile credit, odour eaters and broadband fees.
It seems that "gay friends" are this seasons must have fashion accessory and you have two....get outta town Dahlink
Go away, abusive troll.
Na, I have nothing like the time or fitness needed for training for a full marathon, so I just entered a relay team with a few mates for the Belfast Marathon.
Might try a 1/2 marathon in June tho.
Abusive, nay, you are being overly sensitive. FMC is a big girl, who can take it and give it.
Oh...and the unidentified object on your blog is a seed pod, I'm not sure of the genus, but it's certainly a pine.
Bald Devil....loves you all.
Conan, cocktails are an essential, ESSENTIAL, part of marathon training.
Sheepie, relay, dang girl, you must be super speedy!
Do you have pre-marathon races?
Like the 5/10/13 adidas races?
Congrats, Fmc.
Thanks Darling.
think someone is impersonating you on twenty major blog in the comments??
I've only just started this running malarkey FMC, so I don't have much of a clue about warm-up races, but I think sunday's 10k was the official pre-marathon race.
Probably going for a short 5k race on wed nite - def got the running / t-shirt collecting addiction now!
It grows on you like a fungus sheepie.
Sam, yep. Someone has nothing better to do with their time. If it's me you can link off my name, if not it's not me.
It didnt seem right, then when clicked realised he hadnt put the correct link... fool.
I'll see your Nothing worse than a woman who becomes so pissed she cant take off her make up and as a result leaves her face on the pillow....
and raise you....
...a ridiculously orange, fake tanned woman who falls asleep and leaves an outline of her whole body on your bed sheets in the morning - making it like like the scene of an Oompa Loompa murder.
look like - making it look like.
Oh BA, you would have loved it yesterday so, I've never seen so many orange streaky legs before.
Well done sheepworrier and FMC! And what a day for it! Well did your competitive edge come out yesterday FMC? Did you see people and HAVE to pass them or were you doing your own thing in your own head? Don't forget to put your time in a pacer chart (try Runners World Race Time predictor here : http://www.runnersworld.co.uk/news/article.asp?UAN=1681) and see what marathon time that they think you would run. It's kinda scary.....
Congrats again!
Thanks Aisling, I'll try that.
It was funny yesterday, I got over taken by plenty of folk as they were running down hill to the water station-just after the 4k mark, but I enjoyed passing them out on the climb directly thereafter. I can't say I was overly competitive, just concentrating on my own run. It has put me in a better frame of mind for the marathon though, I REALLY want to run it quicker this year.
Yay for your personal best, FMC.
Also yay for many cocktails.
Thank you darling, but I feel I may forgo cocktails for a while. I and my gently pounding head are at odds.
Congratulations on your sub-hour time! And in hail? Good Lord, woman, you're a machine!
Thank you. The hail was terrible. It truly was. But in between hail showers there was sun.
At least it wasn't bloody windy.
Well done! And to CG too. All that training is paying off.
Thanks Sam, I actually think the 800m splits are really helping a lot with the speed. I can't say I ENJOY running hell for leather during them, but it does seem to be good for an over all increase.
and they're a guilt-free excuse for going ez-pee-z the next day.
yesterday morning when i was toiling 9mph into a headwind i told myself and the mailbox i was creeping by we can do this melvin. and we did.
there is whiskey in the jar.
Well done FMC! Cocktails: the perfect recovery drink. Do they have any protein ;)
As to your question yesterday, the triathlon is on May 4th. I'm getting a little worried that when I mention Wildflower to people in the know, it is followed by a knowing nod, and then they say, "thats a hard one".
Eeek, not long now John. But you've been doing some sterling training so I'm pretty confident you'll be awesome.
Finn, you completely rocked the shit out of that race. I am in awe. AWE I tells ya.
Thanks FMC. Not so sure about awesome, I'll settle for still alive.
Congratulations !Well done. And on the cocktails too. Unfortunately they do have the tendancy to come back and bite you on the arse, don't they?
Alive is good John, very useful too.
LK, they most surely do. My own fault entirely.
