Murder in Austria.
Austrians still reeling from the terrible discoveries of the Fritzl family abuse are now trying to come to terms with another shocking tale of brutality.
From Breaking news.
An Austrian father slaughtered his wife, daughter, parents and father-in-law with an axe then surrendered to police.
Officers said they first found the bodies of the man’s wife and seven-year-old daughter in their home in a wealthy district of Vienna.
They then discovered the other bodies in Upper Austria province, in the cities of Linz and Ansfelden.
Police said the man turned himself in today and told police what had happened.
The man, identified only as a 39-year-old public relations consultant, said he wanted to spare his family the shame of financial ruin he caused through speculative financial dealings.
His wife worked in the Finance Ministry.
Police said the man told them he began by killing his 42-year-old wife and daughter yesterday morning, before driving to Ansfelden where he beat his parents, aged 72 and 69, to death.
He said he then drove to Linz, where he murdered his 80-year-old father-in-law in the early evening.
The man is currently undergoing further questioning in Vienna.
“He is completely matter of fact ... without emotion,” a police spokesman said.'
My god, he wanted to protect them from shame? From Shame? WTF is wrong with people?

The scariest hollywood murderers are precisely these kinds of people. Their very ordinary-ness means that it could be your next door neighbor.
These are much more scary than the garden-variety knackers.
That's true Docky, how often have you heard after a murder how normal and every day the person was. Jesus, he used an axe. How could anyone do that to a member of their family?
"He was quiet. Kept to himself. Seemed like a nice guy."
= total nutcase.
I'm much happier with the screaming lunatics. At least you know where they are coming from.
One of my neighbors worries me. Quiet most of the time - you wouldn't know he was there. Then at 4 am on a Saturday morning he plays guitar and sings lonesome cowboy songs.
Naked?
You live beside me Dr James??
WTF is wrong with people?
That's an easy one. They're nuts.
In Austria this guy is quite normal. They've probably even got a compound noun for "skeletons in the cupboard" except for them it isn't just a figure of speech.
I don't buy the nutcase explanation. Even with that Fritzl dude, there's no way that he can plead insanity.
They're not insane, they're just suffering from a hyperbolic sense of male privilege which tells them that they own family members and can do what they like with them. Patriarchy tells them that they are "king of the castle" and all that bullshit and they believe they have a birthright to control other's lives.
Yep, I don't buy insanity either, this was calculated.
Jay-sus dusty, isn't that going to an extreme?
'I fucked up so I shall murder my nearest and dearest so they don't have to carry the burden of my shame.'
Gee, what a considerate father/husband/son/son-in-law.
I know, what kind of thinking leads a person to think ending the live of their loved ones cleanses his 'shame.' Surely if he'd killed himself he would be free of shame. Why slaughter them?
