Teenagers are stupid.

Not all of the time, but some of the time their little brains just ...I don't know what, they just clearly don't work.
I was coming back from the shop earlier this morning when who do I spy but the Little Goth Kid and one of her equally gothy friends bippity bopping down the road on thier way to school. Well they weren't really bippity bopping, they were shivering as they scuttled along because today is somewhat gloomy and a bit cold.
'Where's your jacket?" I asked her when we stopped for a meet and greet.
'Back home.' She said, trembling.
'Why don't you wear it then? It's cold today.'
'It's huge.'
'Er...right. all the better to warm you then.'
'NO no,' she said shaking her newly blonde hair, 'it's massive.'
'Yes, but your lips are going blue.' I look at her friend, same attire, school uniform, socks pulled up to thier knees, no coat. She too is shivering.
'Okily dokily,' I said and wished them good day.
It was like last week when I was heading into town with the paramour and we spied another teenager, standing at the bus stop wearing track suit botttoms, ballet pumps, tiny vest with little tiny cardi over it. She had her arms folded across her chest and she was rattling away too.
She made me cold just looking at her.
Wait util Winter really kicks in.
Idiots.

Let em off Cat...I remember doing the same as a teenager and getting given out to by the parents (although I wasn't a goth, so maybe I was dressed a little warmer). Now I give out to kids and teens I see doing what I used to do...I reckon it's just programmed into us to behave like this.

Ah, it's the power of teen vanity and need for peer acceptance. More powerful even than Readybrek (sp.?) at denying sub zero temperatures.

Go on, tell us you were different.

Oh yes... one of the Drummlets is morphing into a similar craythur... would sooner have me hand-wring the clothes than wear the waterproof in a downpour. It must be joy through misery, or the pleasure of playing Drumm snr like a wind-up toy... I will not take the bait...I will not take the bait...I will not take the bait...I will not take the bait...I will not take the bait...I will not take the bait... oh gawd it's raining rivers out there...

We all did that same stupid stuff, didn't we? Freeze our asses off just in order to look cool? We never thought that standing there shivering looked stupid though, did we? I just shake my head when I see my 15 year-old leave the house in a long sleeved shirt, jeans and flip-flop sandals. Now THAT'S a look!!

I was a teenager in the eighties, between wearing my father's jumpers belted at the waist and Grandfather shirts and velvet jackets I stayed warm. I did dye my hair with food dye though, which ran down my face when I got caught out in the rain.
OH and I smoked Moore cigarettes because they looked cool, what a twit I was/am.
