Plastic Surgery is an unnecessary risk.

I loved College Dropout, the album, and had it pretty much up there on the ipod playlist for the spring of 06. So I feel bad for Kanye West this evening, his beloved mother and best friend died over the weekend due to complications during plastic surgery.
I remember watching a documentary about Kanye and his mother a few years ago and being mightily impressed with this tough, outspoken and devoted mother. She came across as a real lady. She adored her loudmouth son and he thought the sun moon and stars rose and set in her eyes.
It's a sad demise for an intelligent vibrant woman like DR Donda West, and a reflection on our society as a whole that so many women are prepared to undergo unnecessary surgery and all the risk that it entails in the pursuit of 'beauty'.
RIP Donda.

I won't be putting my pot of Olay away anytime soon, but you're absolutely right. What a waste.

Love that Olay stuff, FMC.

Everyone thinks cosmetic surgery is no big deal and then cases like this happen.
Poor woman.
I hope my common sense overpowers my vanity and keeps me out of the plastic surgeon's office.

I'm sure it will. There's a lot to be said for aging well and with a bit of grace. Shit, I think Cher is awesome, but I think Susan Sarandon looks a hell of a lot better.

That's too bad. She looks to have been an accomplished woman in her own right. What a pity.

While the idea of having a face that doesn't represent crepe paper is always appealing, the thought of taut, perpetually surprised crepe paper doesn't have the same appeal. Oh, and the added bonus (at no extra charge) of death on the table........hmmmmm, maybe not ?

The article says she died from "complications during plastic surgery."

Plastic surgery can be a very different procedure to cosmetic surgery.

Plastic surgery can include reconstructive work, from the re-construction of a face to removal of a mole.

Cosmetic surgery is more specifically your "tip and tuck" - boob jobs and the like.

So she may have undergone plastic surgery, without undergoing cosmetic surgery.
