"Fifteen children have been saved from abuse at the hands of a worldwide internet paedophile ring, it emerged today after the network’s British ‘librarian’ was jailed.
The capture of Philip Thompson, following the largest ever deployment of undercover officers in the UK for a child protection inquiry, led to dozens more arrests.
The 27-year-old, who thought he was operating ‘below the radar’ was one of the kingpins behind an abuse ring that spanned 33 countries, a court heard.
Thompson, who lived with his mother, pleaded guilty today to a total of 27 charges and was today given an indeterminate prison sentence of a minimum of 45 months.
Thompson was the moderator for an online forum used by paedophiles across the world to trade in child pornography, the court heard.
Charges against Thompson included 16 counts of making indecent photographs of children, seven counts of distributing indecent photographs of children and one count of causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity.
Mr Hadfield told the court: ‘The defendant’s role was to police the website, which gave him the opportunity to transfer these images to his computer.
‘The evidence recovered from his computer showed he had amassed a vast collection of indecent photographs of children.
‘It appeared the defendant kept some of the most serious images to use as trading chips.’
Seriously, I'm a moderate person, mostly. But this person- and I use the term super loosely- is the type of scumbag that I wouldn't mind seeing executed. People like him, who feed off the innocence of children for sexual gratification, don't deserve to live. I hate the fucking thought of how much damage this piece of shit has done to children over the years, the amount of heartbreak he might have caused, the abuse he has dished out willy nilly. It makes me sick to my stomach that someone like him is able and capable of operating so long and so easily. That he feeds the appetites of other pieces of shit. Two hundred and fifty thousand images the dirty fuck was caught with. Two hundred and fifthy thousand, That's a lot of little kids.
That thing needs to be put down.

Too Right they do the bastards, they get pathetic sentences, especially in this country. I am all for prison reform and rehabilitating people. But rapists and paedophiles cannot be rehabilitated. That sort of depraved sadistic behaviour is embedded in them. Other crimes against people, say a murder can have various motivating factors. To betray trust and destroy innocence in the name of sexual gratification is irreparable. They should be put down or at the very least locked up for good. I also think that once convicted there should be mandatory castration just to be safe. The mind is the most secret thing a person has, I don’t think anything thwarts it like sexual abuse. When people willing do such heinous things they sign their human rights away.
Thats what I think anyway.

He got 45 months, which is 9 months more than Lester Piggot got for tax evasion.
Of course, if no-one bought the images then the rings wouldn't exist, and while people in this country caught with child porn get to make donations to charity (Tim Allen)or just get off altogether (Brian Curtin)then it shows we're not taking it seriously enough either.
I thought Tim Allen's slap on the wrist and Curtain's fucking nothing was absolutely sickening. These people are the fuel of that nasty fire.
I read a really interesting interview with a cop who worked paedophile cases recently and it was his opinion that true paedophiles can never ever be rehabilitated, that they are the most manipulative sneaky self absorbed dangerous snakes, that nothing can be done with them. They are remorseless and are always a danger, always, they just need opportunity.
That's not such a huge sentence. What happens afterwards? Do they send him back to his mother?
I wonder what her part in all this is.
I'm normally all for rehab and understanding motivation etc. But I agree with you here - the chances are there's nothing anyone can do for him, and he is a creator of evil and suffering. And any child's life is of far more value than his at this stage.
I can see there being a type of people who is turned on by children, who recognises the wrongness of it and hates themselves for it, and is most likely aware of the damage done to them by their own childhood abuse. And I think there is a place for sympathy and help for those people, providing, of course, children can be protected.
But paedophile rings? Or people who join the Man Boy Love Association!

You can be sure this guy will get a segregated prison placement and be kept well away from the run of the mill prison populace. He will go to 'therapy' and tell his little tales of how sorry he is, and some social worker some where will look at his bespeckled face and fall for his patter and suggest a release date, providing of course he keeps up his therapy. And soon, oh yes soon, this fuck will be out on the street eyeing up potentials once again.

I once did a story on internet creeps like this and we were in Internal Affairs and the guys there were showing us how they trace people etc etc. But the weird thing was that one of the guys we were interviewing was just a tad too eager to show us the pictures they were dealing with.
It stuck me as too creepy, I wondered whether it was just me being uber-sensitive about it, but I there with three other men and they felt equally uncomfortable.
I had to work on case involving this type of thing a few years ago. I spent two days in a locked room photocopying the most horrendous images you could possibly imagine. it actually turned my stomach I was unwell for days after it.

LK, that's fucked up. I know a chap who is a guard and he told me once that one of the things he HATES the most is when suspects really relish retelling stories or offering up details. He said you can see them enjoying it. I couldn't do his job, I'd be had up for murder.
i'm not a fan of the death sentence, not in the least - but for very few people, i think it's apt. someone like this is my first candidate, hands down. that or castration. or something - i don't know, anything that could teach some sort of lesson. i'm sure twenty has an idea or two.
I don't think teaching them a lesson has any sort of purpose, really. Not if they don't give a shit in the first place and are as predatory and revel in it as previously described.
Castration definitely, if effective, and apparently it is.
But what I'd really like to see is for them to somehow understand emotionally the suffering they've caused, and have to live with that understanding.

The sentence is a joke, did he 'co-operate' or something? Surely being part of a conspiracy to abuse children should carry a very long mandatory sentence? Not to mind the exacerbation of doing it for profit.
He should be electronically tagged for life, and legally barred from touching a computer ever again, on pain of incarceration.
